Edo State female went unscathed as they  emerge champions to lift the gold medal in the  19th edition of the National Sports festival, Abuja 2018.

JIGAWA STATE vs EBONYI STATE.

Jigawa State won the Toss and elected to field first sending in Ebonyi State to bat. Ebonyi  State scored a total of 55 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

In the second Innings, Jigawa State chased the required total to record a score of 56 runs for the loss of 1 Wicket after 7.3 Overs.

FCT vs LAGOS STATE

Lagos State won the toss and elected bat first scoring a total of 126 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs.

Ruth Ayannaike was the star player for Lagos with an unbeaten 49 run not out off 47 balls.

In the second innings, FCT ladies fought hard with a late onslaught but fell agonizing short of the required total to record a score of 112 runs all out in 18.5 overs.

In the second innings, the bowling class and technical ability of the Edo State team was too much for Jigawa state who struggled to build a decent partnership throughout the innings. Jigawa state eventually scored a 77 runs all out in 18.3 overs

Agatha Obulor of Edo State was voted man of the match with 25 Runs not out off 33 balls and 2 wickets for 13 runs in 3.3 overs.

Anambra State won the toss and elected to field sending in FCT to bat. F.C T scored a total of 103 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

In the second innings, Anambra State battled hard to claw back into the game after a dismay start to record a well-deserved victory over Team FCT scoring 105 runs fie the loss of 8 wickets in 19 overs.

Anambra State won by 2 wickets to win bronze medal

 

FINAL MATCH

LAGOS STATE vs KADUNA STATE

The final match was tagged “CLASH OF THE TITANS” as the old bitter rivalry continued between Lagos and Kaduna State. In the 2012 Eko Festival, Kaduna State lost narrowly to Lagos State on technical grounds. Most recently in the N.C.F National Male Championship 2017 in Lagos, Kaduna State also fell agonizingly short of the required total to beat Lagos State to the trophy.

In the Finals of the 2018 National Sports Festival, Kaduna State was on a mission to have the final laugh over Lagos State.

FINAL MATCH SUMMARY

Lagos State won the toss and elected to bat first scoring a disappointing total of 114 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Seye Olympio was the best performer with the bat for Lagos with 29 runs of 34 balls.

In the second innings, Kaduna State were off to a bright start with a formidable partnership between Yusuf Gershon and Danladi Isaac. Fall of wickets to both openers brought Lagos back into the game for a short while before Daniel Gim and Okpe Sylvester took control putting Lagos under immense pressure. Sylvester Okpe lost his wicket and surprisingly, not batsman could anchor with Daniel Gim to build a partnership that will get Kaduna over the line. In the end, yet again, Kaduna State fell short of the required total to record a total score of 108 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs
