Edo State reaches new heights with the 2018 cricket season opens with a spectacle.

Under the distinguished chairmanship of The State Association Chairman Mr. Uyi Akpata, hope for better days were once again assured as he promised further expand and support the game across the 3 senatorial district of the State.

The season opener began on Friday 12th January 2018 with a coaching clinic for primary school where the basics were introduced as well as the video sessions for the kids. As part of the Association’s drive to develop Cricket from the grassroot, over 200 kids were in attendance from 6 prrimary schools participating in the exercise.

The opening season ceremony continued on the 13th of January 2018 with a primary school 10 overs match in the morning followed by a 10 overs match between the state U-15 boy’s vs the State women’s team. The third game for the day was a special 15 overs game between the State U-19 boys team against the Chairman’s selected Veteran team with Mr Chairman also participating in the game.

The climax of the occasion was the cash and award presentation to deserving players and coaches in the 2017 Cricket season.

In his remarks, the Chairman also promised to expand the activities in Ekpoma, Edo Central while breaking new grounds in Edo North with Auchi as a pivot center.

Cash award presented to the players are N25, 000 each and N50, 000 presented to the coach of the year. Star of the future received a full scholarship from primary school to university level.

Other engagements for the day include the good will message by the President of the Federation Prof. Yahaya Ukwenya delivered by the acting general manager Mr. Emeka Igwilo.
